July is mid-winter; the more south you go, the chillier it gets. I still found La Paz somewhat agreeable; Lima was freezing cold when I was there late june (but I've been told that was an exception), Buenos Aires in winter tends to be rather miserable. Bring sweaters, since not many buildings have functioning heating. Also check here for weather forecasts worldwide.

Buenos Aires is between 12 and 18 average max temperature in July and between 2 and 10 degrees at night. 1 out of 7 days sees some rain on average.

La Paz is between 12 and 14 degrees max and between -7 and -2 at night!! Only one out of 10 days sees some rain and the sunshine is 9 hours a day on average!!

Lima between 18 and 21 max temperature, between 15 and 17 degrees at night. One out of 4 days has some rain.

On this route you can expect bitterly cold temperatures on the Bolivian Altiplano, down to -20 at night. So take really warm clothes, as during a tour you will sleep at places where the inside temperature is around 0!

It's sunny during winter in most of the area, except maybe the area around Buenos Aires. But Salta in nothern argentina is much sunnier for example, although temperatures in this area can vary much more. Salta for example is usually dry in July except a few days, but temperatures have been recorded of 35 to -5!
