Hey Everyone,
I am hoping to spend about a month in Laos from the beginning of July. I have been doing some reading and really want to spend some time down South visiting minority groups. Does anyone have any must see places they can recommend?

I am also usure what do about money. I realise there is only one ATM and that is in Vientiene so if I am travelling for a month should I just take a large amount of cash in US and exchange while I go alone.

Any help would be much appreciated!!
Cheers,
Romy

With a month to spend in Laos you can see most of the country if you want- I was there in Jan-Feb for just over 1 month- My route, coming from Cambodia in the south was Don Det, Pakse, Boleven Plateau, Vientiane, Vangvieng, Phonsovan, Luang Prabang, Nongkiaw, Muong Ngoy, Luang Namtha. There is good trekking with hill tribes in the north ...

There were ATMs in Vientiane, and Luang Prabang.

Message me if you have specific questions- I just loved my time in Laos- it was probably the highlight of my SE Asia trip.

I agree with canadaguy, a month allows you to see more then only the south.
ATM's are now spreading through Laos. Only VT and LP are certain now, but there maybe one also in savannakhet or Pakse.
BUT so far all you can take out is about US $ 70 worth of Kip per draw, and at a high surcharge per use (i think 7% or so.)
I suggest taking cash, dollars or Baht (easy from ATM's in Thailand), and change as you go along.

Yes, visit the North also.
