Does anyone have an experience with volunteering at the Secret Garden Hostel in Quito?

I am planning on a South America excursion in the fall of 2007 and have stumbled upon a hostel in Quito with rave reviews. Apparently if you commit at least a month to volunteer here (basically helping run the hostel 48 hours a week) you receive free board in an apartment seperate from the hostel, free meals, free internet, free drinks, half price laundry, 20 hours of one-on-one Spanish lessons, and various free and half price tours. Let me know if you have done this, or anything similar to this before, and also if you have any thoughts on whether Quito would be an interesting place to live for a month or two.

I didn´t volunteer but the guy I´m travelling with did, we met at the Secret Garden....it´s a really cool place, definitely one of the most sociable hostels I´ve found in South America. You end up working 7 hours a day 6 days a week, which is quite a lot compared with other volunteering positions in other hostels in Ecuador (eg. met a girl volunteering 4 hours a day in Canoa for free board, lodging and surfboard...) but it´s a cool place to hang out and you´ll definitely meet lots of people. But get in soon...apparently there were already loads of people wanting to volunteer over the northern hemisphere´s summer.....

Hey, i´m volunteering at another hostel just around the corner from the secret garden. Its a pretty cool place, very much a young peoples hostel, and layed out like a rabbit warren, but fun. The volunteering seems pretty layed back, good bunch of people from what i´ve met. Quito is an awsome city, especially the old town.
