Hello there...

Was just wondering if anyone can tell me about the proof of funds you need to do at immigration and customs on arrival.
I have been told by some other travellers that they only had £1000 in there bank account and were able to still be let in but our visa company is saying you need £2500.
What are your guys experience with this as i'm not completly confident i'm gonna have enough if they want more then £2000!!

Cheers Becky x

I think what they say you need and what they will let you in with are two completely different things. If they don't have any reasons to believe you will break the rules of your visa, you should be fine. A lot of travellers on this site have previously said they didn't even get checked if they had the available funds, but seeing I am an Australian resident I don't have that issue so can only talk from what others have written on here. If worst comes to worst just tell them you have got about £3000 in available funds plus about .... available on my credit cards (assuming you have creditcards). They wont ask to see proof that you've got £3000, so unless you look dodgy or give them reasons to disbelieve you, that would satisfy your worries and keep them quite. In Australia we have a TV show called border security which shows things like when people get turned back at the border due to lack of available funds. The only people I have seen on that show getting turned back for this reason are people who have no bank cards or creditcards and hardly any money for the length of time they are here like £1000 and they are supposedly meant to be here for 2 months and see a lot of the country. Also people who come on a tourist visa and get caught with a resume in their luggage (a bit stupid in this day and age with modern technology). Come with a plan of where you want to see, what you are doing, where you will be staying for the first week and if you got questioned you'd be able to tell them your plans so they aren't concerned about that part either.
