My wife and I have booked a holiday trip to Lake Garda for the week of Aug 20-25. We can still decide whether we go to Limone or Malcesine. The room in Limone has a balcony with lake view, otherwise the hotels are pretty similar.

We're a couple in our late 20s/early 30s and are looking forward to enjoying the scenery, eating in local restaurants and maybe renting a car for a couple of daytrips to eg. Verona and Venice.

Any suggestions? Hints?

You have certainly picked to great places! I guess it depends if you would rather end the day in a smaller town Limone or have more options in the evening at Malcesine. In either town you and your wife would be enhanted by the area. It is easy to pick up a ferry to take and explore many towns along the lake. Good idea of renting a car and traveling to Verona or Venice. Depending on the pace you like to travel you could do Venice and Verona, a day for each. Personally I would pick one and explore just it. It is a coin toss! Does your train or plane come and leave from Venice? Kristen

Thanks for the information! We fly into Verona and as it's a charter trip, we have bus transport all the way to the hotel. Is Limone so small that there's basically just one street with restaurants? Even though the accommodation in Limone is nicer, we're concerned about the lack of options for dining.
