I am planning to goto Bali the first week of October. I will be flying to Jakarta and meeting my Fiancee there. She is from the Philippines. What Airport is best to fly into and meet her? Most flights from the US are LAX to JKT via Taiwan.
I will need a hotel for 1 day/night in Jakarta, a nice one. My budget for a JKT hotel is like $75/night.
Then we will be flying together from JKT to Bali for the rest of the week. What airlines would be best and cheapest for a flight from JKT to Bali?
So, my itinerary looks like this:
Saturday - Depart DFW
Monday - Arrive JKT
Tuesday - Depart JKT
Tuesday - Arrive Bali
Tuesday/Sunday - Stay in Bali
Sunday - Depart Bali for USA
Monday Afternoon - Go back to work
Does this sound feasible?
So, my basic questions broken down are:
1. Where can I find the best deal for Airfare to JKT from the USA?
2. What is a good hotel, close to the airport in Jakarta for 1 night stay?
2a. What airport is the international airport and what is the 3 letter airport code?
3. Where can I find the best deal on airfare from JKT to Bali for 2 passengers?
4. What's a good hotel ON THE BEACH in Kuta with breakfast included?

Try Kedins Inn on Poppies lane 2. Its a cheap hotel that includes a basic breakfast and its a 2 minute walk to the beach. We stayed there 3 times and loved it. It has a pool too!

Your itinerary seems fine. For a hotel near the airport in Jakarta, there is a hotel in the airport if you will just be spending a night to wait for your flight to Bali. The nearest hotel utside the airport is Sheraton Bandara.
In Kuta, there are a lot of hotels at the beach, from the really cheap ones to moderate to 5-star hotel. For some places with special characters, check this: Harris Resort, Alam Kulkul Boutique Resort.

am thinking of going to bali in sept and staying at hard rock cafe. However am facing violent objections from family and gf since they say its quite dangerous coz of the terror attacks.
just wanted to check with the people here if they know how the sentiment is like at that hotel and is the safety there really bad?
thanks!

I was in Bali a couple of days after the bombings in 2005 and although it was a bit 'weird' initially as everyone was obviously very wary, we had a great holiday and loads of the locals made a point of saying how grateful they were for the fact that we had still come, as Bali (particularly in Kuta) is very dependant on tourism.
The people of Bali are extremely friendly and welcoming so you will have no anti western sentiment, unless you do something to p!ss people off and in Bali that would be pretty hard!! Yes terrorism is a worry but I'm going back for a month next year so I think its worth it.
