If you are alone, I take it from your name that you are a male, I would choose a hotel in the Ermita area. You will have good restaurants, hotels in many price ranges, within walking distance to the Robinson Mall and the MRT. This is a tourist type area with many bars available for the evenings and places to shop during the day.

If you need hotel recommendations mention what your daily budget for lodging is. If you are on a working trip then it would probably be best to have a hotel close to your business dealings.

Also, do you fly into Manila or into Clark Airport? These two places are several hours apart. From either place you have to decide on how to get into town. Also, if you arrive during the day you have more transportation choices, late at night fewer choices.

Good luck.

If you are white, you will know what it is like to be a celebrity. That is how the government should sell the country.
Nobody takes the bus. But its fine. Crimes exist, but the increasing number of Koreans everywhere is an indication that alien races are spared from street crimes.

Places to visit in Manila??? uhm... with culture and character: QUIAPO and the (ruins) of INTRAMUROS,lol..., the walled city. TAKE THE MRT and the LRT! skip the bus. MALATE is cultural and gay, not the whole realm. Its a place to party.

check out the BAY WALK of MANILA. and SM MALL OF ASIA and the CCP COMPLEX in pasay.

JEEPNEY??? The department ofTourism should give you a medal if you try it. There is nothing more cultural, but foreigner s dont care.

I hate this town. But you will love it, if you have less than 30 days to live here.

3 months in the Philippines huh??

Philippines is divided into 3 groups: Luzon (north), Visayas (center) and Mindanao. I would suggest you start your tour in the northernmost part of the Philippines.

Before starting your trip, enjoy the city of Manila first. Do what the locals do - take the jeepney & eat the street foods! Go to Quiapo (what the Filipino truly is) and Makati (what Filipinos want to be). Check the bars of Malate and enjoy the crowd in Makati & Fort Bonifacio. For accomodation, I suggest you stay in Makati.

For Luzon, visit the 5 provinces of Cagayan Valley (Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino), see the famous Banaue Rice Terraces in Ifugao, go caving in the mountains of Sagada, check the beach in Pagudpud and enjoy the famous "empanada" of Vigan. I think this will take you two weeks.

Next, go island hopping in the Visayan Region. Enjoy the beaches of Palawan, Boracay, Bohol and Cebu. Stay one week each.

And in Mindanao, go snorkelling & scuba diving in Camiguin, white water rafting in Cagayan and surfing in Siargao.

Should you have any questions, just send me a msg. Will be glad to help out.

Take care!
