Hola everyone,

I am intending to travel to Peru later this year and had November, December and January in mind...I plan to stay between three and four weeks and would like to visit Lima, Cusco and perhaps Ica, Puno or Iquitos in the North.

However im trying to get the lowest cost flight and in the quickest time possible and last november i was quite lucky to get a direct flight from Madrid to Lima for 638 pounds and in just over 12 hours (i dont think i can mention the airline here)....

I just wondered if anyone had some ideas of the best places to look, best or most reliable airlines, who to book and who to avoid and where to book online flights.

I will be travelling from Stanstead Airport UK and think it would be a lot cheaper to try and get a direct flight from either Holland or Spain.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think you flew with Iberia and the price is almost exactly the amount you would be when flying with KLM directly, which costs around 950 euros including taxes.
Although I still think it is relatively expensive (you can fly to Australia for that price), the hassle of changing planes instead is worth the extra cost. Surprised though why prices are so high as it is a pretty popular country, and prices to for example Santiago or BA are cheaper.
Would advice to go in November by the way, as prices in December, beginning of January can be higher.

Yes thats true Utrecht i flew with Iberia and the flight itself was very comfortable despite being over 12 hours long, which is possibly the shortest flight from europe to Lima and i actually booked that flight in around september time for the end of november so i soon realised 640 pounds was great value for a direct flight, however i totally agree that the price seems to be over the top as you can definitely fly to Australia and many other world destinations for the same price or less but at the same time if i leave things too late the prices seems to just keep increasing and never drop despite the cancellations they must get...but as its Peru which is extremely popular these airlines all know they will always fill the seats come what may...

I have no idea what KLM are like and i just know that they also have direct flights from Amsterdam to Lima, to be honest i think they are a budget airline and imagine it would be a bit risky and uncomfortable to go with them which is why i dont mind paying a bit more for peace of mind, but as ive never flown with KLM i cant say for certain one way or the other.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers John
