If you had a week holiday in Europe, where would you go and why?

Hmmm. My answer would probably be different every time you asked it - would depend on what i felt like at that particular moment, where I was (and where I'd have to go afterwards) and where I hadn't been for a while, and what time of year it was.

I would normally try and pick somewhere i haven't been before, or for a while (or wouldn't get the chance to go with work). Portugal is high on my list as i've somehow noit made it there yet, and really need to rectify that.

Other than that, I love Slovenia; Croatia a possibility, and i'm always happy to spend more time in somewhere like Barcelona, Berlin, Stockholm, Munchen or Budapest

For me like Gelli it would depend when asked, today if its to go somewhere that I know I'll have a great time it would be back to the Czech Republic, theres loads to see, the people are friendly, great beer, ( ;) ) , its quite cheap to travel around............ if you asked yesterday it would be Italy, I love the culture, the contrasts between the relaxed / chilled south, the quick paced north, the history and the football (Lazio ).........

I've never been to Hungary or Slovenia but have heard so much about them they would be high on my list , even if just to satisfy my curiosity..........

I think pretty much any major European country would do. Prague, Florence, Barcelona, Paris, London, Munich, etc.... There are pros and cons to spending a week in a city though. While 1 week will give you plenty of time to see the sights, it will also whet your apetite. You'll probably want to see more of the local sights rather than the touristic. But right now, on the top of my ever changing list (much like Gelli) is Venice. I NEED to go. Need.

Well, most of you out there know where I stand on this subject, but I'll throw in my two cents for good measure (I'm obsessed, you see). Paris is a beautiful city! It's sooooo wonderful! LOL, I'm all dreamy now :) That's my constant must-see city period (not just in Europe), but there are lots of others I recommend as well. Barcelona has beautiful architechture, Berlin is full of WW2 history (I'm a big WW2 buff), Rome and Flornece are gorgeous....Athens is pretty busy right now but if you can make it there when it's not, it's good as well.

TAM: You'll love Venice...it can get a little stinky when it's warm...I dunno why but the canals smell a little (not to offend anyone fron Venice, I just noticed that).

But if you cancel Paris out, I agree with what others said, my answers will change from day to day or week to week.

Katie ;)
