Has anyone done some trekking in Venezuela? I hear that around Merida its good to climb the Mount Bolivar, and more. I´ve heard about Roraima, what´s that like?. Also can you trek in south, maybe in the jungle? I´ve just bought a ticket to land there around the middle of October. No plans at all of where and what to do! hahaha. I will investigate some books and websites.

What I´m after is some personal experiences of trekking in Venezuela, like where you went, what gear you needed to take or hired, and costs etc.

thanks in advance,

Steve Daltrey

Sorry I wasn´t more specific. I would like to do some non technical trekking in hills/mountains or through forest/jungle terrain. Can this be done off your own back with maps etc, or are guides absolutely necesary? I would also like to do some rock climbing or more technical mountain climbing for ice fields using ice axe and crampones. Is this possible? I have all the gear but is it worth bringing all that extra weight if this type of activity is limited.

thanks for any help.

Hola Steve,
How are you?
Wow Venezuela... You can`t believe how wonderfull is this country.
I was there the last year...
Trekking in Roraima... in my case i made the tour for 6 days... for me was clear that the more important thing was have a really good phisycal condition... the way is long... but...only thinking to achieve the top... is undescriptible experience...

I want to send u the link for the agency that i used to organize my trip... I`m sure that they can help u... with ideas and prices...

So, Steve I wish u a nice trip ... enjoy it

Any question only ask
