This January I will be travelling for 3 weeks in Delhi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar, Jaipur, Agra, and Varanasi. During this time, I will need to spent a bit of time working on an online class for my master's degree. Can anyone describe the availability and condition of most internet cafes in the places I'll be visiting? Are there typically webcams available? About how much does internet cost?

Thank you!

Internet in Delhi, Jaipur , Agra will we good with webcams available. I would suggest you to check the Relience Web World in Jaipur n other places. They got awesome connectivity n webcams as well. I have been to udaipur, Jaisalmer n Jodhpur, pushkar n they got plenty of Internet cafes with decent speed.

Not very sure abt Varanasi never been there :)

My best suggestion 4 u to check "sify cafes" they are also decent ones n there membership works all over india :)

There are plenty of internet cafes around Rajasthan. Their reliability is not excellent, but is ok. There are webcams in some places. It isn't expensive.

Internet cafes are now found in most of tourist towns of India... Webcams are quite common nowadays.

Rates vary from 50cents to $1 per hour in most of the areas. Its quite cheap when compared to European standards:)

Like others have said internet cafes are all over the place, but one thing I did find was that the internet was often very slow and also regularly they had power outages. These power outages would either shut the internat cafes down totally or the computers would shut down until the power generator things kicked in and that would still mean you lost everything you'd typed in your email if you hadn't sent it. Prices do vary greatly but are always a lot cheaper than you'll get anywhere in the USA.

Thanks for all the great info! I'm relieved by your responses. I'll be sure to save my work more often than usual.
