Hello! I've looked through the past threads but didn't find anything much newer than May this year so thought I'd open a new one..

My boyfriend and I are thinking of going to Dubai in October (probably just after Ramadan ends) and was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations of places to stay... looking for something not top end but *nice*...we haven't been away all year and are happy to treat ourselves a little!

Also - any must dos/avoids are appreciated but the LP guide is already in the post so hopefully will be quite clued up on that soon!

Thanks :)

Edited for my shocking typing skills!

first of all travelling with you BF itself should be a treat ;)

However if you specify your budget of NICE, I can recommend you some good places.

Dubai is an expensive city so just explore neighbouring cities like SHARJAH as well which are closer yet less expensive..that is if your aim just not doing sight seeing..but relaxing also..

Thanks Anindian!

Had a little explore online this eve and found some decent looking hotels... we're looking to spend up to about £800 each for 7 nights but ideallly less. I've seen a few package deals ( etc, for £500 or £600 but there are lots of hotels to choose from...not sure which would be the best balance or location and price..

All suggestions welcome! :)

PS: We're flying from the UK

You might wanna check our for the hotels in Dubai. I booked my accomodations thru this website.

I have been there twice and there isn't really much to visit. I have been to the Desert Safari tour, Dreamland Aqua Park (Biggest in the UAE), musuem, Emirates Mall (Indoor Skiing).

Try not to stay in Sharjah, Sharjah is an industrial area. Where all the factories are gathered. There issit nice hotels or places to visit from from what I know. Unless you want to buy 2nd hand car parts, thats the place.

My best experience is at the Desert Safari Tour (Inclusive of dinner at the desert with belly dancing performance) for $150 Dirharms. They will bring you around in the desert with their 4X4 Cruiser. You can also try the ATV in the desert for $100 Dirharms (30 mins).

If you want to buy gold, go to the gold souk. All the jewllery shops are there.

There is a Dragon Mall, you can find all sorts of products from China. I have not been there personally as its far from my hotel.

If you like grilled food, try the lebanonese food. Its my favorite food in Dubai. Heehee There is a good lebanonese restaurant in Le Meridian Village, order a dinner set for 2 and you can taste all the different flavors of Lebanonese food for $350 Dirharms.

The traffic in Dubai is really bad. I got stuck in it for 1hr 45mins from Bur Dubai to the Airport. Usually takes only abt 20mins. It all depends on the direction where you want to go at that specific time.

I hope this is helpful to you. :)
