I would highly recommend Hostel Inn Iguazu just outside of Puerto Iguazu on the Argentinian side.

It's very clean, great facilities, a pool. They organise transport to the falls each day as well as walking tours of the area. There's a cafe within the hostel which servces breakfast, lunch and evening meals.

You have the option of staying within the main building or in one of the chalets on the grounds. The rooms within the hostel itself are of a better standard. I stayed in one of the chalets though and it was fine :)

The little town of Puerto Iguazu is just a short bus ride and there is a bus-stop right outside the hostel to take you in. It's quite a cool little town, a little more cozy and welcoming than Foz do Iguacu on the Brazilian side.

Anyway, hope that helps :)

ditto above.

Seems to be by far the best place I have read about and when I finally get there in November it is where I shall be booking for my stay. It's defo well within your budget too especially if you go for a dorm. I think doubles/twin work out circa $20 US per person per night and they look lovely.

One blog on here called it more like a 4* hotel than a hostel.

Ok.... I'll beg to differ here :)

The Hi Hostel was a bit expensive and a bit out of town and so we opted to stay in the centre of town as Puerto is great (and safe and we could walk to the little bars and restaurants as opposed to getting a bus etc.)

We stayed in other HI hostels in Argentina and they were fine so the guys above are exactly correct in what they're saying, however, your meal and bar options at the hostel are limited and a bit more expensive as a result.

We stayed at the Hostel Park Iguazu which was ok... not brilliant but great location to get to bus station to get to the falls.... which is what we were there for.... also got the guy from our hostel to run us over to the Brazilian side for a day for 60 peso's. What's more surprising is that he picked us up too :)

Location was important for us so that's why we decided to stay in the town.... up to you though.

I definitely agree with Taffski, you should stay in the town - If you stay outside of town you will still have to get a bus to the falls and unless you want to eat in the hostel everynight you´ll have to get a bus into town too.

There are loads of hostels/hospedajes within about a 5 minute walk from the bus station (which is in the centre of the town). We were there about 3 weeks ago and stayed in a great hostel called ´Hostel Sweet Hostel´which had a nice pool and we paid 60 pesos a night for a double room with ensuite and included a bacon and egg breakfast!

one day is not enough to visit the waterfalls, the aerea is hugh.
at the Argentina side ar different levels to walk,4x4 tours, boat tours so depending what you will do one day is easy spend at this side of the falls.
the side in Brazil is also big, offering helikopter flights, boat tours, bungy jumping.
Interesting is also to visit ITAIPU and/or the bird park.
so I would recommend minimum 2 full days for visiting Iguazu.
stay over night at the argentinien side,it is cheaper then the brazilien.
