Star this if you like it!
Hey everyone-long story but im heading back to the uk for a few weeks from my australia trip. Stopping off in Hong Kong. I arrive at 6am tuesday morning and leave the following day at 4am. Im booked in to the airport hotel-expensive but convenient!! Although im only there a short time I really want to try see some of Hong Kong. My plan is to go straight to the hotel and have a few hours sleep then get the public transport into the city about 11amish. Then id like ot be back at the hotel about 7pm to get some rest before heading back to the airport for the flight.
So that gives me about 8 hours in Hong Kong-obviously dependent on how i feel following the flight (Im travel sick unfortunately so will be on strong anti sickness tablets)
What should I do? Are there any hop on hop off tour busses?? Where should I go shopping-altho only there a short time would like to have a quick check out of the shops!!
I appreciate any help and advice!!
Thanks
Hels

Hey I don't know if this is too late to help you but this is my "list of things to do in a day" in HK -
Head in to Central (Hong Kong Island) .. if you take the Airport Express it's HKD100 and only 25mins ... you can take a bus for a fraction of the price but you will waste valuable time!
From HK station take a trip up the escalator (only after 10am - it's heading DOWN before then!) then walk back down via Midlevels and then Central - do a walking tour through central (lonely planet lists one, but best bet is to get tourist info from the counter at the airport, they have walking routes to do all over HK).
Then you could take a bus from Central to the Peak Tram, take the Tram up to the Peak, go for a walk round the peak to take photos ....
OR head over to Kowloon side (Tsim Sha Tsui) on the Star Ferry and check out Nathan Rd, do some shopping etc. You could take the train from there to Mong Kok for dinner and a walk through the Ladies Market, then train or taxi back to Kowloon station to take the Airport Express back to the airport in the evening for a rest
It'd be a full on day, but you can see quite a lot of HK in a day - it's very easy to get around on public transport.

If you're only in HK for a few hours and want to check out the shops I'd head straight to Shanghai Tang on Pedder St, Central. I know that there's on in London, but there's much more on offer out here and it's cheaper too! Other good malls include Pacific Place in Admiralty, Harbour City in TST and Times Square in Causeway Bay.
For great views of HK's famous skyline and delicious cocktails head for a drink at Aqua in TST (1 Peking Road). It's on the 29th floor and has fantastic panoramic views. Luxe City Guide has great walking tours for Central, especially if you're into shopping, and you can buy them at all of the bookshops out here.
If you want good Chinese food that isn't scary I recommend Bistro Manchu on Elgin St in Soho. Really friendly staff and a great menu.
If you're feeling travel sick you're in a great place - the spas here are amazing. Try the Mandarin Oriental's or the Four Season's. If you don't want to splash too much cash Sense of Touch on Hollywood Rd is good too (and they have a website).
