I'm heading soon to India and was wondering what would be the best way to to do New Dehli-Goa-Calcutta-New Dehli.
Plane or train or both?
Thanks
Traveling advice for India needed
Hello Spootnik
I would let it depend on the amount of time u have and your preferred way of travelling.
Personally I perfer train to plane, most of the time. I like to see some of the countryside from the train, rather than fly over it.

hi spootnik,
I would recommend u to do Delhi-Mumbai by air and then u can take the train from mumbai to Goa.
i dont think there is a direct flight from goa to Kolkata, if it is not there u can go to Bangalore from Goa and catch a flight from bangalore to Kolkata.
Then from kolkata to Delhi u can eithere fly or take the comfortable Rajdhani train
do let me know if u need more info
Cheers
Arif
trains are pretty good if you land in dehli try and get all your train tickets from the main train office station certainly cheaper and you cen buy you whole trip, without paying commision to middle men
Spootnik, here is a website, which u may find useful.

Hey Spootnik,
There's just 1 train that plies between Delhi and Goa.
(or maybe there was another one added this year)
So, if you prefer train to flying (and have the time - arnd 24-36 hrs), get your booking done on the site suggested by Mel.
However, there are other routes by train that you can take.
Going to Bombay/Pune and then either taking an overnight Bus or a Train to Goa is a good option.
The bus journey can however get a lil tiring.
And from Goa to Calcutta there ain't no Direct Flights.
Arif suggested you the right thing - Go to Bangalore and then fly to Calcutta.
You can also do a daytrip around Bangalore.
and Fly back from Calcutta to Delhi.
The train journey can be a lil taxing on this route.
