Hi All

Does anyone know of the rules of camping freely in Lofoten? Has anybody camped in Lofoten? If not what accomodation has anybody used in Lofoten and roughly how much does it cost? This trip would be in June.

Thanks for your help

As far as I know, in Scandinavia camping is allowed everywhere for up to two nights and with a certain distance from inhabited places according to a rule.

When I was there three years ago, I stayed in A at the vandrerhjem (YH).

God tur :)

Yeah, as long as you're further than 50 meters from cultured land, and out of sight of houses, you're free to camp wherever (although more and more, the impact of people doing that is such that you're being requested to stay at designated camping areas). I've seen quite a few camping areas scattered around, including free ones which still had some basic facilities.
I stayed at the Stamsund Vandrerhjem (far from the nicest YHA I've ever stayed at, though I guess it had loads of atmosphere, and a pretty nice view (but then, it's hard to not have a nice view on the Lofoten)).
