Was in Koh Chang with a friend when we decided it would be cool to rent a moped (auto) eventhough we're not motorcyclist (thinking it would be easy, no change of gears).

Koh Chang has a very hilly topography and the heroes in us decided to do it anyway with me riding at the back (my friend was driving). We skidded and fell in front of a bus coming from the opposite direction! Thank god it stopped in time!!

Got an earful of obscenities from the bus driver and passengers but that better than being flattened over!!

Moral of the story: do not try to be a hero!

Ive had a few, but probably the worst one was when I was skiing in Killington.

My brother and I were sitting in a lift heading up the slopes. I had my arm draped around the back of him with my hand resting on the back-bar of the lift. Just as we came to the top of the run, he lifted the front bar suddenly before I had a chance to move my hand. My thumb was situated right where the hinge was and I cant even describe how painful it was. I thought it had sliced right through my thumb. I pulled my glove off and there was blood spurting all over the white snow!

Basically, it was like the top of my thumb burst open . Pain. Lots of pain. My cousin stuck my thumb into the snow for a bit to numb it. We managed to get to a nearby hut that had some first aid materials, plastered it up and I managed SOMEHOW to ski back down to the resort whereupon I had to go to the Medical Centre to be bandaged up properly.

Pumped full of painkillers and with big tear-stained cheeks (I'm a big baby really) I hit the bar for the rest of the day as the gang headed back up to get a few runs in.

That night was the WORST. It just throbbed all night long. I was eating painkillers. But it healed eventually and I had a little scar to show everyone

Egad Samsara. That gave me the shivers just reading it. You're brother must've felt pretty awful.

Nah, he thought the faces of all the little kids at the top of the run was funny. There's me (a big 26 year old) bawling my eyes out, blood everywhere. You could see these kids suddenly rethinking this whole skiing thing.

Plus, he checked in on me in the bar every time he came back down off the slopes. As the hours slipped by and the drinks mixed with the painkillers, I was blissfully unaware of my thumb!

When I was about 13 I was on a package holiday with my family. My brother and I rented out little go-cart things one day and went spinning around the town in them (Cala d'Or in Mallorca I think). There was one of those massive tourist "trains" - half train half artic coming up behind us so we stayed well in to the side of the road. Too well in apparently. The driver didn't see us and my go-cart got caught in his wheels. My brother pulled me out before I got pulled in too at which point the driver noticed something was wrong and stopped. Some big tattooed sunburnt Englishmen helped us untangle the cart from under the train and we left them back to the rental place at lunchtime so we wouldn't be charged for the damage! I wasn't actually injured, just fairly shaken!
Moral of the story: Don't go on package holidays!!

Does being attacked by vicious mosquitos count? I was munched on in Vietnam and the final one on my right leg went septic - it blistered amazingly - think millenium dome on the front of my leg and it burst the last night and my leg is totally inflamed! So got back yesterday and hit the doctors this morning and now lm on huge massive antibiotics for 2 weeks and if it doesnt get any better l get a trip to hospital for anitibotic injections!!

Also when in Dalat (and l met 2 Tpers who can verify this!) my eyes swoll so much that l could bearly see! I solidered on wearing shades (which made me look daft as it was raining and a lot cooler than the rest of the country!)

I might share the pictures but they are not what you would call flattering!!
