hey people!

Planning a trip around the world, i have nowhere in particular i need to go, but want to go all tropicalish places.

want to be in super cheap accomodaton, a little shack somewhere would be the bestest!

i have £4000 to take with me which needs to get my accomodation food and general fun, all flights are taken care of.

So where would YOU go and where are the BEST/Most beautiful places in the world?

Best and most beautiful places in the world would be open to interpretation and would also not be really cheap places. From pictures I have seen the Maldives looks like one of those places that if you went you would wish you never had to leave, but it is one of the more expensive places in the world to travel to. Super cheap places would normally not be in tropicalish places as they are usually places a lot of high budget tourists go making prices very expensive.

Goa in India is meant to be pretty nice and not overly expensive. It sounds like you are the type of traveller that likes beach towns/cities and in which case you'll struggle to find super cheap anywhere. Sihanoukviolle is a beach town in Cambodia which is not overly exciting but is alright and I got a bungalow only about 50 metres from the beach for $5US a night. In Phnom Penh I got a little cabin to myself for $2US a night by the lakeside which was pretty nice but that's in a bustling city so may not appeal to you. Pattaya in Thailand is quite a fun and eye opening place (Sin City Thailand style) that is not overly expensive but it isn't as cheap as Bangkok can be. About the cheapest places you are likely to get for the sorts of things you sound like you want is around South East Asia. Nha Trang in Vietnam was pretty good for a couple of days doing an island hopping tour which costs hardly anything but not for any prelonged period of time. I didn't go to Muine also in Vietnam but that's also meant to be pretty good.

The Caribbean would be a place for fun and relaxation, but it certainly wouldn't be on a tight budget. I've only been to Jamaica and the places I stayed at which were the really cheap places were all over $25US a night and that is very cheap for what most of the places are. A lot of Australian people love Bali as a tourist destination but it is a terrorist hot spot at the moment so it is a little risky travelling there and your travel insurance policy most likely will not cover you if you did go there. All these prices were last year so they may have gone up a little since then.

Have a great trip.

If you end up in Australia, and you like tropical, I would sugest grabbing some camping gear and staying in the National Parks around Cape Tribulation, Cairns and Innisfail. Much cheaper than hostels which are closer to AU$20. There are normally toilets and gas Barbeques, and the only disadvantage is you need a car to get to them (need money for that). Have a think about the Torres Strait islands, they're pretty damn spectatular. Use the internet to get prices.

Vietnam has some cheap accomodation and transport to the beautiful limestone coasts around Ha Long Bay (don't go in winter). Although the air and rubbish pollution makes it nothing like the pristine sands of the pacific islands - which is probably what you are after. Generally pacific islands are expensive, as they are heavily touristed.

You can't go wrong with the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. You've got a couple thousand islands, friendly people, good party scene and a lot of fun. I found the Philippines a lot more charming if you want to get off the beaten path, and a lot cheaper on the whole but that depends on what you really want to do. I did a ton of scuba and found some hidden gems at affordable prices. Even got to see the whalesharks.

I will say that you can find laid back and easy or edgy and scary in any of the countries. Just depends on what you want.

I really found a ton of beautiful places in Palawan (Philippines) and Malaysian, Borneo, as well as Thailand.

New Zealand is great but not cheap.

Varkala in India (I found Goa just too over the top unless you really just want to rave every night) is touristy but a great place to just relax.

Sri Lanka is gorgeous and has almost no tourism these days.

that's the best of the tropics in asia I can think of. As said before the Caribbean isn't cheap (although the Dominican Republic and Haiti are decent - just avoid Port Au'Prince (or however you spell that)

Southeast Asia has a lot to offer:
- wonderful beaches in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam
- great rivers in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia
- jungle in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos...
- wicked parties in Thailand (Ko Phangan, Ko Phi Phi, Ko Samui...), Laos (Vang Vieng, Vientiane), Vietnam (Hanoi, Nha Trang, Muine)
-beautiful landscape in each country
-a fair amount of cultural sites
- great food

And the best part: it's dirt cheap!
