Hi, I am looking to rent a car in Chile (pick-up and drop-off at the airport) for a 2 week period,
and I have come across various local companies that I obviously haven't heard of before.

Could someone comment on which companies are reliable and provide a good service?
(apart from Budget and Avis)

We were in the south of chile a month ago and rented car in puerto natales and punta arenas. Both occasions we used the local companies, which were way cheaper than avis or budget or any of the known ones, and had fantastic experience. I cant think of the names exactly, but im not even sure where you are renting from! But from my own recent experience, yes, go with the local ones! (they might not have a website, but you are normally better off asking at the tourist office for a list of car rental companies and asking directly to them in the day)

Hi there,

I've rented a car so now and then in Chile. I've had my best experiences with Econorent. Pick up at Concepción centre and drop-off at the local airport without extra costs.

Service and quality: no remarks except 'OK'.

Like any rent-a-car: when booking in advance you have a wider choice of car types.

Further: I think that Chilean drivers are quite disciplined, but keep an eye on all the different traffic (microbus, bicycles, pedestrians, animals, etc.).

Have fun!

Regards, Ron

hi again, just to say thanks for the feedback, in the end we used Lys, which has a deal with budget and everything was fine.
