I am doing an overland trip from Vic Falls to Cape Town and after 3 weeks camping would like to stay in a nice bed. My budget is about £40/night and I have found loads of places on the net for this price but my problem is which area should I stay in?
I am only there for two nights (would love to stay longer but can't) and I need to know the best area to stay in. I know it is a failry small city but should I stay in the V&A Waterfront area, Gardens, City? Where?
Can anyone help me?

For 40 GBP you could have a Reasonable hotel room to yourself. Most Hostels will easily be able to give you a double / private room for less that +- 20 GBP or lower.

As to where depends on where your overlander goes - ie stoppps at which hostel , they may have a special deal - they are BUSINESS men / Ladies.

V&A only expensive hotels. Gardens & City within 1.5kms of each other makes no difference. Many hostels can offer you a good room and facilities quite easily, some have flats with private rooms or doubles ensuite etc.

Try and find out at which hostel truck stops. Know Cape town hostels well, stayed with and know many - LIVE here so a little unfaire for me to recommend one specifically, but can give U some ideas is know where they will stop;)

Thanks for that. After all my searching for the past couple of weeks I found out for the first time today that De Waterkant is a gay area, not that I mind but it would be nice to know and none of the guide books state this.
I will find out where my trip drops off and I am considering a hostel as have found they are the best way to stay anywhere, whether in your own room or in a dorm, especially when travelling alone.
Shame I am not in Cape Town longer, never mind, hopefully another time!
