My wife and I are planning a visit Europe on the above said dates. We are stopping over at Frankfurt on our way back from India. We have never been to Europe and would appreciate any help in charting a itinerary (using EuRail) that would include good places to visit in 6 days. We are planning on getting a Schengen Visa. We are from North-East of US and so, are pretty used to Winters - but would like to visit places that are not so dull despite winter. Currently, I am thinking Frankfurt - Venice - Achen - Luxemborg - Paris - Frankfurt.

thanks in advance.

Vienna in Austria is a lovely place to be around Christmas. It's a beautiful city, with wonderful Christmas markets, complete with mulled wine and plenty of festive spirit. I'm not sure what happens after Christmas, but I'm sure they also see the New Year in with plenty of festivities. I can't help with any other european destinations at that time, as I usually head to warmer climes (eg NZ!).

I imagine all of those places would be great around Christmas, especially Paris, though I'm not sure you and your wife would need a Shengen visa for the places you listed (You said you live in New England, so I'm assuming you're both U.S. citizens.) I would check into it further to save some money....when talking about travelling with friends it's only been my friends from countries such as China and Nepal that needed a Shengen to visit the 15 Shengen countries. Just a suggestion. Good luck.
