A sudden change of plans has me alone in Dublin for NYE.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to do to bring in the new year?

I would try to get into a bar or club.
That is where the action usually is on New Years Eve.
However getting into the bars and clubls on that night is not easy. They are usually packed on that night and charge a fee to get in.

Dublin is absolutely crazy on New Years Eve. Everywhere is really crowded, there´s usually fairly hefty entrance fees to get into clubs, you might even need to book. If you´re looking for a crazy night my advice would be to get into town early (i.e. around 6) and go straight to a late bar. Leave the clubs alone, you´ll just have to queue for ages and then might just get turned away.
Not sure where you´re from, but Temple Bar is usually the place to go for tourists, if that´s your scene.
If you can find a house party then I think that would be much better!
