My husband and I are taking a cruise thru Asia starting in Bangkok and ending in Beijing. We would like to spend about 4 days (Nov. 7,8,9, & 10) in Beijing. I have checked out a number of hotels, but I would like something close to the attractions and yet not highly expensive (possibly a 4-5 star) and also would like the name of a reputable tour company we could use to pick us up and take us to the sights. Naturally we would need an English speaking guide as well.

Please advise. Thank you for your help.

Maybe you can use CITS

They are the best in China. My ex-company worked with them for few times. They are really cool!!

Good Luck

Hi Joanne,
I can thoroughly recommend the Capital Hotel in Beijing. It's a 4 star, but we managed to find internet rates for $100 per night, which was good for four of us! My partner and our two kids shared a twin room!
Facilities were excellent, but, as anywhere in China, the water must be boiled before you drink it!
The Capital is only 5 mins walk from Tian'anmen Square and Forbidden City in one direction and about 15 from the shopping area of Wangfujing (where there is a Mc Donalds!) in the other.
The underground is not far either and very easy to use. It's relatively simple - one big loop and another line across the middle.
We used a guide but I can't remember how we found her - be sure to check whether you are expected to tip the individual as well as paying the company. We only found this out late and it was a little embarrassing as we hadn't budgeted for it.

Feel free to ask any more.
