Here's something new!

We just added the possibility to share in the ad revenue generated through the travel guide. It's our way of thanking those users who put a lot of time into expanding and improving the content. You will need to be a Full Member to contribute, but considering contributing to the guide can get you that status fairly quickly, I don't imagine that would be much hindrance.

For full details on how it works, you can read this page on Ad Revenue Sharing in the wiki.

The whole thing is rather experimental, so let me know if you have any questions.

UPDATE: It is now also possible to share in the ad revenue on your blog and in the featured photo galleries.

[ Edit: Updated to include blogs / photo galleries. ]

Nice idea - cheers, I'll have to add a few more articles now...

One thing I'm wondering is when it says if your edit is removed you lose your 'claim' on it as such does that mean if your edit was reverted or people came along and changed it afterwards? Just wondering cos my grammar isn't always too hot!

The fairest we could come up with was to calculate the share on a per-line basis. So it loops through all lines / sentences of an article and finds the first version that the line appears in. This rules out reverted posts, because that content won't be found in the article anymore. The somewhat unfortunate side-effect is that it also doesn't give any credit to original sentences which might have been edited (to fix typos, etc). All other systems we could think of had other (worse) side-effects or were overly complicated to implement, so I think this is probably the fairest.

It's also a good reason to get a browser with a spell-checker built in, ie Firefox. ;)

That could be quite some time I'm afraid !! While this system does genuinely make some money for active contributers - it's more in the tens of dollars range than in the tens of thousands of dollars Certainly enough for a few cold drinks on a hot day.

How about articles that has been reorganised and separated into a few other articles?

If it is just a title change and has been done by using the "Change Title" link, then credit will still be given correctly - all the article history is still in tact.

If it is a case of copying content out to a different article, then the person doing the copying will get the credit for its new location. Not ideal, I know ... In other words -- try to post the content in the right area to start with ;)

This happened to Eric's (dr.pepper) as well yesterday, but this morning it was working fine. I suspect it is a Google processing delay causing that.

Yeah, it's definitely Google's delay. It's working fine now. :)

just a small point; on the edit profile page at the very bottom where you enter you adsense id no it says:

More details on how to get a Publisher ID can be found here.

but the 'here' is not a link to the relevant page
