My girlfriend and I are planning to travel to South America from London, England. We're looking to fly maybe to New York then get a flight into Venezuela. We're hoping to visit Angels Falls then on to the Inca trail in Peru. Maybe even Chile after that. We're looking at about 4 weeks away. Any tips on which airlines to use and rough prices?

Hi guys :)
I can't advice you a concrete airline, but check your filghts options with they've got sometimes incredible prices! In Peru the local flights are not expensive, but if you care for your lifes please avoid Star Peru.
Best of luck i S.A.

Why not takes busses? Less polluting, more relaxed, MUCH cheaper and very comfortable.

I guess buses on a 4 week trip where you visit Venezuela, Peru and maybe Chile is impossible without sitting in those buses all day.
But I agree with Niels that when maybe chosing 1 or 2 countries close together it is possible to only use buses and fly directly from London to some city in South America. There must be some direct flights from London. There even are from Amsterdam directly to Lima and Sao Paulo for example.
From Santiago to Lima in about a month is very well possible and although I think the Angel Falls are worth it, it's a shame on both money and time, let alone the environmental aspects.
On the other hand, I do understand that when going over there you want to see as many highlights as possible, maybe you won't go there anymore afterwards.

Agree with the airlines mentioned though, LAN (both Chile and Peru) are great and also TAM (Brazilian based) and Aerolinas Argentinas are among the best airlines. Avianca from Colomba could be another one, but unfortunately I don't know by head what airlines serve exactly what routes.

I do know that domestic flights in Venezuela have a poor safety record!

Lan has a program where you can get tickets throughout south america for a reduced cost there website has info. Buses are good but they take a long time if you need to travel far distances like in Chile.

You can fly from Caracas to Ciudad Bulivar (acerca Airlines) approx £100.
Flights go to Canaima (which is the airport for trips by long canoes to the base of Angel falls) by Rutaca.
There are no flight times,as they run on a charter basis!!
Try they have a web page in English.
They can arrange your trip including the flight.
Good luck!!

Varig is the gold standard in South America. It's Brazilian.
