Hi, I will be arriving at Denpasar airport in Bali at around midnight and need to get to my hotel in Kuta. Can anyone advise me of the best and safest way to get there? I will be a single female traveller so am a bit apprehensive.

Either you can take a taxi or have your hotel arrange a pick-up. Chains such as Best Western (Which has hotels in Kuta offer such services). Obviously, you'll have to arrange a pick-up service ahead of time to coincide with your flight arrival/departure. The taxis are generally safe and Kuta is just a bit north of the airport so you won't be in the taxi for that long anyway (Perhaps 10 minutes or so). Whenever you use a taxi in that part of the world MAKE SURE that they start the meter or that you agree a fare before you take off. A good bet would be to purchase a tourist taxi ticket @ the airport taxi counter. Kuta is a very popular tourist destination so even if you needed help, services are widely available.

Safe travels! :)

Tickets from the airport taxi counter are only valid for the taxis operated by the airport (They're a bit nicer than the metered ones) plus, someone such as yourself would probably feel safer in these even though it's safe either way for the most part

Taxi, definitely. Balinese transport is difficult to suss out at the best of times, let alone at midnight after a long journey and on your own. As already suggested, get one from the taxi desk at the airport to ensure the safest possible driver or arrange hotel pick up.
