Which month would be the best to visit Thailand- July, October, December, or mid March to early April?

Most of my trip will focus on the south, with a little time spent up north on a hilltribe trek. Good weather is more important to me than whether or not it'll be crowded. I've read Lonely Planet's "when to go" section and it left me confused. Please help!

Best month to visit Thailand is definitely December no matter where you are heading: It is the coolest month which means that it is still 28-30 degrees C in the daytime. It is also the high-season so it tends to be crowded at the tourist-spots. October is also OK but a bigger risk for rain during this month. March to early April is very hot and July is full of rain.
Enjoy your trip!

I prefer December too... but if u come here (Thailand) in mid to late of December, it may be crowded, especially during New Year week.

Mid of March is an alternative choice if u don't want to stuck in ppl but it's pretty or so hot for american.

Mid of April is the time that weathe of Thailand is hottest, anyway, you will see "Songkran festival". It is a Thai new year festival.

July and October are monsoon time in Andaman sea. We cannot to go far islands, definitely.

December is fine but expect to pay top prices for hotels. Late October is OK too as the rains have stopped for the most part, prices cheaper.

Enjoy,
