I know it sounds complete madness, but my boyfriend and I are looking at getting round as much of Australia as possible in 6 weeks! We are currently living in Sydney and want to see as much of Oz as possible before going home, but only have about 6 weeks to do it in.

Our original plan was to head to Melbourne, drive Great Ocean Road etc to Adelaide - then head to Perth, which is where i come a bit unstuck as flying seems the only option.

We want to check out some of the West Coast, like Broome etc so any tips on best things, ways to get round would be good.

Then we were gonna head to Darwin - Uluru - Alice Springs, fly back to Sydney, then do a couple of weeks up the East Coast to Cairns.

All rather hectic, but we did South America in a short time span and it was good fun (if not a little tiring)

Also can anyone recommend good campervan hire where you dont have to put down a massive bond, or pay huge one way fees?

Any help welcome!!

Eve x

Hi Eve,

I would say it's going to be fairly hard to see everything in 6 weeks without driving the whole time. Highlights of my around Australia trip were (going anti-clockwise from Sydney):
- Fraser Island
- Snorkelling/Diving the Great Barrier Reef
- Bitter Springs (In Mataranka, NT)
- Litchfield NP (Near Darwin)
- Bungle Bungles (Purnululu NP)
- WA Beaches (Any one)
- Uluru/West Macdonell Ranges/Chambers Pillar

Without a budget I would probably:
- Fly Sydney to Melbourne
- Drive Melbourne to Adelaide (~1 week)
- Fly Adelaide to Perth
- Drive Perth to Broome to Darwin to Uluru (~3 Weeks)
- Fly to Alice Springs to Cairns
- Drive Cairns to Brisbane (~2 weeks)
- Depart

I guess we all need to make sacrifices though
