I am an American looking for summer employment in Europe, specifically the Mediterranean. Is there are way to arrange this aside from showing up in June and looking for work? The websites I have seen are targeted towards the British and charge large sums of money to apply.

Thanks for any help summer working tips/info.

i assume your elooking for cash work, as you wont have a working visa?
try being a nanny... ppl need summer nannies quite often, and its one of the easier jobs to find without a visa!

I've heard of a guy that came to Canada to do the same (from Finland). He stayed a bit longer than just the summer, but apparently what he did was just make a few calls to possible places of work (in Canada) and asked them what they could do for him if he came to work for them (as in, get him a work visa). I think it worked out well; he's got a job at a TV station at the moment. Maybe find some possibles and make some calls? Arrangements could be made.

you can def try that, but there are so many illegals in europe already that its gonna be pretty ahrd to get a visa if youre not entitled to one. a company CAN get you a working visa, but in some countries its harder than others. the netherlands is really hard, as the company needs to prove theyve had the job advertised for 4-6 weeks, and they couldnt find someone from NL or the EU to fill the position... pretty hard! germany is easier tho, you need to get a job and then you can get a residence permit, or something like that! its not as straight forward as that, but you should look into it! as for mediterranean countries, i dunno!
