Dear Experts

I'm travelling out to thailand this thursday for a month jaunt. I'm trying to find out the current weather conditions, in particular the diving visibility and which islands/boat routes are open.

It sounds like the monsoon came early was is a bit of shame :( I was looking forward to checking out the diving in the Andaman (?) Sea (Similan Islands, Hin Duang/Muang below Phi Phi etc). After that we'll head to the Gulf to Ko Tao.

Does anyone know the current weather and diving conditions/availability? whether the weather will improve? ways to find out which boat routes are open? check current conditions on the web?

lastly without meaning to sound too much of a numpty I've never experienced the monsoon i full effect first hand - in your experience, what does it mean? I heard 2 hours of rain then sunshine is normal.

Thanks very muchly!

Phileas (good name)
I spent a few weeks in Thailand in September time, mainly in Phuket, and the rain would come in from the west most afternoons, bucket down for an hour or so and then it'd be hot again. So it won't ruin your day if you take it into account.
But don't blame me if it pours down for a fortnight

Here in Khao Lak it's on again off again rain. Looks like it will be this way for at least a week.

For the rest of our rainy season we get weeks where the weather is perfect, and weeks of just overcast skies with heaps of rain. The problem - you never know when you'll get one or the other!
