Hey guys,

Travelling S.A for a month in Jan and I was curious what the situation was like in terms of meeting people etc through hostels.

After travelling both India and China which do not have a hostel culture but more a hotel atmosphere, while travelling alone it was diffilcult to meet other travellers. Goa was the exception.

Do many solo travellers make it to South America?

Are the hostels setup to encourage interaction?

Also what are the realistics costs linked with South America. I am thinking Peru, Chile, Argentina.

Thanks!

Luke

Luke,

I can't speak from experience about South America, but I think (from what I've heard from other travelers and because of my experience in Central America) that it is fairly common for the solo traveller (especially male) to stay at hostels, and not hard to meet other travelers. Maybe someone with experience can confirm my suspicions?

Have fun :)

Jane
