Hi guys

I just organised accomodation for Oktoberfest and am only 2 weeks away from leaving Aus to backpack throughout Asia for a couple of months and then do a working holiday throught the UK.
There was one thing i was wondering with Oktoberfest tho...I know that the entry is free and also into the beer tents but i have been told by heaps of people to make sure you get to the tents early to get seats, I am going in the middle weekend so i still expect it to be busy and there will probably be about 10 of us meeting up for the big event, so my question is... has anyone reserved spots before or is it easier than what some people make it out to be to get a seat and just enjoy a few litres of beer. Also if your advice is to make a reservation in our tent of choice can you give me a rough idea of costs.

yes u do need to get there really early. I went in 1998 and we got 3 seats on a bench at 11AM and stayed there.

some tents u do need reservations.

10 guys, u might have to split up a bit unless u get lucky. Just get there early!

fair enough i think we will just risk it and show up early, if we have to split up so be it. We just booked camping accomodation with any Aussie group called the fanatics that travel to all the big sporting and drinking events around the world. Hostels were to expensive and most of them dont release there room availabilty until June anyway. Have you got accomodation yet?
