Hey guys

Am nearly on my merry way to finishing off most things I need to organise for my year long backpacking trip around Thailand and Oz

What I have not yet organised is travel insurane Could anyone list the exact things that I should be covered for whilst travelling as I am sure I will miss something and also, my cheapest quote so far is £236 (sterling) - if you know of a company who can do cheaper please let me know

Hi Nykky,

World Nomads quotes 200 pounds for 12 months. I quite like their coverage. There's been several threads on the topic of insurance in the last two days. You may want to do a forum search on the matter.

Cheers, Peter

Hi Nykky,
Insurance is a minefield. All policies seem to cover the basics, but differ in the details.
Make sure the fine print says you are covered for things like, for example, hiring a motorbike, if you might want to do that.
Also, in the event of serious illness, 'Repatriation' only usually covers the cost of sending YOU home. Some companies also cover sending a relative out to get you. Not something you want to think about, but would be nice if you needed it.
I used the BMC ( Very reasonable.
