Hey well it’s a great thing that you are planning to going for a long time road trip....well Check out Rocky Mountain National Park (about 90 miles north of Denver). It's great....incredible views...paved roads that you can drive up....can also go hiking, see wildlife, etc. Plus, the town Estes Park is really neat...some fun little shops and stuff to see. Theme parks are all over the state, from Lego land and Sea World in San Diego to Disneyland… Enjoy!!!!!

Well, if you are headed to the West, I'm going to have to suggest that you visit San Fransisco. It really is an awesome city. Here are some spots you might want to take a look at!

Fisherman's Wharf
Golden Gate Bridge
Bay Bridge
Ghiradelli Square
City Hall
Ferry Building
Alcatraz island and prison
Golden Gate Park
Palace of Fine Arts
Union Square
SF Chinatown
Little Italy and Coit Tower
Muir Woods National Recreation area

I have only been to a few places on here, but the rest were suggested by a buddy I met through travellerspoint. Good luck! Have a blast!

Hi katy24,

Not sure if you are already in the states but if you are making your way across the western USA make sure to see Bryce Canyon , Cedar Breaks and Zion National Park as already mentioned. If you have the time it would be worth your while to check out the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City , UT which is going on right know. Go to for more information. For local lodging and unique cabin rentals in the area goto

If you are looking for a great bed with pillows to die for, don't go past a Comfort inn. Spent 10 weeks in Canada and US and were never disappointed with any of these rooms. We stayed in mostly 2 star accommodation and managed to find rooms for 5 of us under $150 almost everywhere.

Don't miss Yosemite National Park. It is absolutely awesome. I would recommend the drive down the Coast of California. This would be Hwy. 101 and 1. The central coast is beautiful and less crowded than other areas. There are lots of great wineries located in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Solvang, and Paso Robles. Oceano Dunes south of Pismo Beach is a unique beach were you can rent ATVs or take a tour as a passenger in a Hummer and ride the sand dunes. It's lots of fun.

Have fun!
