Hello everyone. I would like to get some imput on Americans getting jobs over in Europe. My wife in from Slovakia and I have been thinking about our kids being able to spend time where she is from. But I want to be able to work over there to help support our family. So if anyone knows what I might be able to do please comment on what you think. Thank you for your time...:)

What country in Europe did you want to live in, or does it matter?

Do you have any ancestors from anywhere in Europe? How long ago did they come over from Europe? If they came over recently enough, you may be able to qualify for citizenship or a visa from that county.

There are no Working Holiday Visas (WHV) for USA citizens for Europe, unfortunately, so you'll have to qualify for a traditional working visa. That means you'll need to show a skill set required, as well probably have a job already lined up and a company willing to sponsor you.

You're best bet might be to go to Slovakia and have your wife sponsor you.

P.S. This probably should be moved out of the System Talk forum to the Europe forum.

If your wife has Slovakian citizenship, then it may be possible to settle in other countries of the EU as well under a spouse/family visa.
