Hi Guys,
This is my first post so you must excuse the general stupidity.

I'm going on a RWT on the 23rd of September and would like some suggestions on things i really should do in any of the following places:-
California, Nevada, OZ, NZ, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and India.

Thanks for the though

Nevada: Grand Canyon (parts in Arizona), Las Vegas
OZ: Great Ocean Road, Uluru, Kakadu, Great Barrier Reef, Sydney and Melbourne, Frasier Island, Whitsundays, Kimberley, Tasmania...the list is long
NZ: Coromandel, Abel Tasman NP, Fjords, glaciers and alpine mountain scenery in the south, Catlins, whalewatching Kaikoura
Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, islands and beaches enough, Ayyuthaya.
Cambodia: Angkor
India: seeing a tiger in the wild, Varanasi, Rajastan, Kerala, Himalaya (Ladakh).

vietnam? definitely Ha long bay...

also, you may want to check out the book '1000 Places to See Before You Die'... I've used it as a guidebook for me to target the places I'll put on my priority list to check out before I die.. ;)

Lovely post!

I'm going to add Australia to my list. My b/f's coworker is from there and raves about it.

Good idea about the "100 places" book. I've seen it in the travel section, but it always feels like a big book of guilt for stuff you haven't done (must be my Catholic guilt-box acting up). But to use it as a guidebook is brilliant!

If you are in Southern California take a ferry from San Pedro, Newport Beach, or Long Beach over to Catalina Island. It is a short and inexpensive ferry ride.

Arrive in Avalon hang out in the touristy town for a day then take the Safari bus over to Two Harbors. You can either camp there or stay at the one hotel, the Banning House.

Catalina is truly unique and it is like stepping back in time b/c so much of the island is protected. There are bison, and a lot of other wildlife roaming free on the island. Really a neat experience.

ride an elephant in Thailand, maybe stay with a hill-tribe

NZ - Milford Sound area, Rotorua for Maori culture, take a night time walk on Stewart Island to spot Kiwi (the bird not the fruit lol)

eat (or learn to cook) bush tucker in the Aussie Outback

NZ - skydive over the South NZ mountains - unbelievable experience!
Vietnam - def Halong Bay (as mentioned) ... local bus rides - chickens and all ... & My Son - another world heritage site
USA - Grand Canyon - mind blowing!
Oz - Fraser, Whitsundays are must do's! .... get to the outback and be in possibly the remotest position of your life!
Thailand - Islands & Chiang Mai ...
Cambodia - fire an AK47 ... one of those things which would be schweet to experience, and pretty cool to be able to say you've done it! .. Angkor Wat of course!

thats my input ... some ive allready done, other im going to be doing shortly ...
