i want to suggest you to visit Lithuania and especially Vilnius! You ask why? I can answer :) The most beautiful city in Lithuania is Vilnius :) In short, Vilnius contain over 40 churches and many new restaurants, hotels and museums. But the most impressive thing in Vilnius is Old Town and architecture. Along with Baroque, you can see Gothic, Renaissance and many other architecture examples. Besides, in 2009 Vilnius will become European capital of culture and people over there are working very hard to make as good as it is possible events :) Moreover, in 2009 Lithuania will celebrate 1000 year existing name "Lithuania" because in 1009 germans first time wrote about our nation :)

My grandmother was born just outside of Kaunas, and is very proud of her Lithuanian heritage. It's a country on my to-do list!

Indeed, I love to visit there some day but I've learn quite a lot of negative things about visiting there - e.g. if you are non-white..... best not to visit there.......... sad isn't it.

yes, this is a problem... :( but at day time there is nothing to be afraid and at night time there is one thing how to survive :) all lithuanians love basketball very much and if you see that something is going to happen, you can say that you are here because you play basketball :) some former players tried it and it helped :) besides, in vilnius i see non-white everyday (i work in a city center) and everybody doesn't look unhappy :)

Good chance I will visit during the end of September! Looking forward to Vilnius and maybe Kaunas. Anything more in the surroundings?
