Hey Guys

Some of you great people might be able to help someone for me

I have someone who is arriving in sydney on the 8th of september form Ireland on a one year work visa.Because he's doing this alone he was wondering if anyone could recommend(temo) accomidation ihe could stay in until i find work or if i decide to travel to a different city or state?...

He's a plumber by trade but after reading up he sees that employers rarely hiring workers on a one year visa

Also he know hostels are the cheapest form of accomidation but has been told that its common for belongings to be go missing in hostels and he will be carrying more than a back pack.

Any help would be great

Regards

Ozeire :)

Hey There,

Ive been on OZ for last 6 months on WHV (Work Holiday Visa) and currently working in Sydney for last cpl months.

Im stayin in a hostel in Kings Cross / Potts Point that caters towards working / long stay overseas travellers - its full of irish, english, german etc so its got a good vibe an have had no problems with security or anything going missing.!! Its called Sydney Central Backpackers (http://www.sydneybackpackers.com.au/) - they arrange a free airport pickup service aswell - I moved in here on my own an after 2 months now i have met loads an loads of cool people that all go out at weekends after working all week - if you stay more than a week its $140 per week so good value

Also next door to the hostel is a place called Orwell Lodge, you can get private or double rooms that have their own basic kitchen, tv an share bathroom for around $250 per week - so if you get sick of hostel life its a good alternative

Hope this helps,
Declan
