I have been travelling back and forth from Buenos Aires for 20 years and now I plan to stay full time. I am not happy with the rental agencies I have used for temporary rent in the past and am looking for recommendations for an honest straight-forward agency with fluent English speaking agents. I enjoy Buenos Aires but I have found people in the property industry to be very dishonest and condescending with tourists, in particular the top 4 although I am too reasonable to state names - thats what they call themselves. I'd rename them bottom-feeders.
I need an honest rental agency in Buenos Aires
Hey There Maj,
Whats Maj? I have been in Buenos Aires studying spanish - I love to party with the portenos but Im not sure I would like to do business here! I came here at first for 3 weeks to learn Spanish and now I've been here for over 3 months and Im still trying to get the verb tenses down!! Needless to say I had to find a more economical place to stay than a hotel, and I had to get away from the endless partying at the hostels so I could study so I decided to get an apartment. I had two truly awful experiences with the Big agencies who claim to have the best apartments in Buenos Aires but the service and condition of the property was almost insulting. In the first apartment I lived with a colony of cockroaches. I asked 3 times to have the landlord do something about the problem and nothing changed. I had to move because I couldnt afford to feed myself and all the cockroaches on my part-time English teachers salary! Anway, the next agency was terrible too just in their manner of dealing with my few reasonable complaints like a broken heater. So, I understand what you mean. I now am renting from Buenos Aires Stay which has almost made me forget all the trouble I had before. I stumbled upon them randomly when I met one of the agents at a bar. Her name is Lorena and she is not only fluent in English but the company is actually Brittish run and it feels like a 1st world company. Anyway, they have been more than helpful every step of the way and I will always recommend them. Their site is http://www.buenosairesstay.com and ask for Lorena or Terry who is my concierge.
Have you checked www.craigslist.com? There are loads of options for rentals in BA and many of them are by owners. Are you looking for sth in particular? Maybe I can help you out.
