Does any one know how to get stanby flights?
I've been on various airline websites (BA, Virgin, Quantas, Air NZ) and they either say that they don't do flights on a stanby basis or don't mention them at all. I'm based in England so need info relating to flying out of any Uk airport.

PS: Looking to go to costa Rica, New Zealand and Thailand.

To get a standby flight, you have to already have a ticket. Then you try and get an earlier flight. In North America, it has to be a flight in the same day.

Are you thinking standby flights, or are you thinking last minute flights?

I fly Standby all the time, I work for an airline, not to many airlines offer standby flights to pax. if you do get standby tickets make sure you are not traveling in high load season. I have some really bad experience flying standby.

I got stuck in LAX airport for two days trying to get to Hawaii it was not fun I had no friends or family in LAX and had to stay in the airport

so ask what the load factor is 1 day prior to your flight

hope this helps
