I am planning a trip to Tanzania, I would like to know how to go to Uganda to visit the Gorilas.
Does someone knows how to go from Tanzania to Uganda?
Hi
The Gorillas in Uganda do have two permanent processes
1. Application of the permit that has to be done several months prior to arrival and on substantial Dollars
2. Way of getting there
On Aspect Number two that is your concern, i have two ways as from Tanzania which is either by flight or by Road. Precision air and KQ which operate as same air line flies from KIA TO JKIA TO Uganda then back
And the Road to Uganda is like wise the flight but this time round is done by spider Bus Company or Scandinavian or Dar express bus company
I hope this will help you!

Hi there,
I'd advise the flight option which will be quicker, safer and less tiring.
Without having to go through JKIA Kenya, you can get direct flights from Tanzania - Dar es salaam via Kilimanjaro to Entebbe - Uganda.
There is Precision Air with flights every Wed, Fri and Sun and Air Tanzania with flights every Tue, Sat and Sun.
Depending on where you are in TZ, you can board at DAR (Dar es salaam) or JRO (Kilimanjaro). The same airlines operate direct flight from ZNZ (Zanzibar) via DAR to EBB (Entebbe)
However, be warned that since this not such busy routes, the airlines operate at their own discretion and at times the flight are not guaranteed.
Taking a bus will almost drain your every ounce of energy... trust me its a long long drive.
Another option which is not all that commendable either is to hire a car and get yourself cross border insurance to cross the car into Kenya then into Uganda which is safer than driving directly between TZ and UG. A direct drive will take you northeast past Lake Victoria at Bukoba, via Kyaka into enter Uganda at Mutakala then find your way to the Virunga side of Uganda (Mgahinga Gorilla National Park) to see the gorillas.
You really don't want to do the drive all this way... trust me!
Yap! and be sure to get your Gorilla permits well before hand, the demand is too high and the supply is limited. Some times people have to wait for weeks on end just to get their permits. But I promise you, the experience is worth every hustle!!!

Thanks for the advice, I think the best way will be to fly there as you say.
Thanks a lot for the information.
You usually need about 4 months notice minimum to get a permit and then you can't be picky about your days. Another option would be to go to Rwanda for the gorilla trekking. The permits do not book up quite as quickly there.
