Whats the cheapest method of travel from London to Paris. The Eurostar or Easyjet/BMI or something else.

Any thoughts, pros & cons would be appreciated.

Hi Tiger,

The Eurostar is hard to beat.

If you were to fly, you would have to figure in a trip out to the airport and another from Charles de Gaulle (not cheap). If you look at the time it takes to get to the airport in time for check-in (2 hours or so) and the time to get back from the airport in Paris, the train will almost undoubtedly be quicker.

As far as prices, after adding all airport taxes and transport to and from airports, I don't see how even the most budget of flights would be able to beat the Eurostar pricing by much.

And of course the seats will be FAR more comfortable on a train and you'll have less of an impact on the environment.

Mind you, I haven't actually done the Eurostar, but I have looked into it and didn't see any point in even trying to fly that route.

Cheers, Peter

Any others with thoughts.

I've done both, so here are my thoughts:

Eurostar - Pros
- travel from central London to central Paris
- always on time
- very comfortable
- quick check in, check out
- only have to check in about 20 mins before departure
- view the country side of both countries
- a bit of an adventure

Eurostart - Cons
- dearer than low cost airlines

EasyJet/BMI - pros
- cheap as chips

EasyJet/BMI - cons
- add taxes to cheap airfare to get real price
- travel to and from far away airports; cost of taxis/trains
- generally limited seats at really cheap prices
- having to arrive at the airport an hour or more before flight time
- flights often late
