How impulsive is everyone when they travel?
Okay so it would make more sense to travel in a linear fashion. Like traveling to a country right next to the one you are in. But for some reason I can't seem to do it. I keep meeting people and going somewhere completely different.
For example. Okay I traveled the USA and Mexico pretty much a round trip (besides a few random tangent expeditions) but then after the US I headed to Aussie, starting off in Brisbane then heading south to Sydney, then north again to Surfers Paradise, then across the outback to Perth, then north to Exmouth... and then F*** it, over to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam then back to Oz, Melbourne, then across the Nullabor back to Perth, then south of Perth, then across and down to Tasmania, now I'm back in Melbourne about to head to Darwin before heading to NZ then Canada (which I could have done when I was in that area of the world in the first place)
Seriously how crazy is this itinerary? I think I'm lucky that it hasn't cost me a f*** load as most travel has been via hitch-hiking or catching a lift with random people.
But I wonder that now I have been traveling in Aussie like this for the past 1.5 years that this is going to be my way of traveling from now on. Which is both exciting and a little disconcerting.
My question is: How crazy has your craziest itinerary been? And do you travel like this?

As I haven't been able or lucky enough to travel for at least several months in one trip, my itinerary is less flexible. Still, I don't book much more than flights, a few nights and sometimes a rental car, but after that things are pretty much open although I have specific sights, cities, parks etc. in mind that I would like to visit.
Then again, like you said, it is not the linear fashion either. I like to visit the more remote or furthest destinations first, now I have the time and money, before travelling more in Europe, although I make shorter sidetrips in Europe as well. It is not exactly what you ment with linear fashion as you probably were on a much longer trip, but still I end up in a totally different environment several times a year, visiting most corners of this beautiful planet

I'm an ultra superstitious traveller. I believe in signs and lucky days.. to call me free spirited is an understatement... I can be very impulsive. I shock myself sometimes. At the moment, I am still thinking Pattaya or Kachanaburi, but I could end up in Sihanoukville.

It takes me a while to actually leave home and go somewhere, but once I'm on the road I'm fairly spontaneous and will pretty much give anything a go.

I like it best to just book a flight and see where you end up! I'm quite spontaneous I'd say

Don't you just end up where the ticket says you'll end up?

Hehe, that reminds me of that couple who booked tickets to Sydney, and ended up in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
