Is anyone in Bangkok or Phuket at the minute? We're due to arrive in 10days and all the weather forecasts we've looked at says that its heavy rainfall in both Bangkok and Phuket right now........is this the case or does it just rain for a few hours each day???

Most of the time when it rains it rains for a few hours and stops. You may get a few days of overcast or you may not. It may not rain every day either. Most of the time you can find some sunlight each day. It may rain at night time when you are asleep. Some minor flooding for a short while where the drains may not handle the deluge.

When it does rain it does not fall all over Thailand at the same time. You could have fair weather in Phuket and rainy weather in Pattaya. Your trip won't be a total washout, when it rains (if it rains) just do inside stuff! Eat in a restaurant, shop in a big mall, sit in a bar and get stewed - the rain usually stops in a few hours.

Hey, safe sun time at a beach isn't much more than an hour. Believe me, you will see tourists walking around all sunburned red with peeling skin!

See if you can take in some places up north like Chiang Mai and see something else besides just beach areas. Schedule a final night in Bangkok so you won't have to rely on last minute connecting flights. I fly to Thailand next Tuesday, I don't mind when it rains. I do not go to Phuket any more and prefer other areas more northward.

Good luck.

You are going at the best time of year, weather- wise, so you shouldn't have too much rain, and it shouldn't be too hot. I was in Bangkok in the rainy season and even then it didn't rain all day every day - it was just short, heavy bursts, and then it would be fine again. When it did rain, it was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity.
