I went to Argentina alone this time last year. I rented an apartment in Buenos Aires in the Recoleta. Big mistake because I was dealing with a broken heart and was VERYYY lonely. Buenos Aires is cool for a few days because you can do a lot of walking and partying if you can stay up that late. THEN, I met a fellow traveller and we went down to BARILOCHE in Patagonia. YOU MUST GO. We took a longggg bus ride (10 hours or so) but it was worth the trip. I flew back to Buenos Aires for really cheap and she headed south to the Artic.

Portenos are pretty snobby but once you get past that, you will seriously enjoy the fact that with the US dollar, you can buy ANYTHING for CHEAPPPPP!! It was crazy. The steaks are yummy. Oh, the air quality is worse than here in LA. But again, in Bariloche, my lungs were never so happy. If you go, ask about the hostel in the mountains. GORGEOUS!

Have a great time!

Hello - I am also travelling alone. I head off on 9th November to Peru then bolivia and then race down to Buenos aires for christmas and new year! I am up for serious partying so should be fun. Might be meeting a cousin of mine there for New year. Will be around if you want to explore the bars! Have a great time.

Hello - I plan to be in Argentina around the same time, around mid Dec. to early Jan. 2005, and for about the same duration, in fact. It would be great to meet up with another fellow traveller. I'd be into variety of things from tango to hiking, photography, exploring parts of the cities and some partying during the holidays would be fun (and maybe even a must!) ...
