Just checking that the method of getting a pre-approved letter and then picking up your visa at Hanoi Airport is legitimate (i.e. they're not going to send us back home!)? I am an Australian citizen, and just looking to apply for the standard 90 day tourist visa. Also any recommendations of which company to go with?

Thank-you for all responses!

I did the VN 'visa on arrival' in April. I arranged it while in the US, but flew into HCMC from Singapore. It worked as advertised, no problems. I wrote about it in my blog, look under 'Off to SaiGon'. Send me a PM if you have questions.

I use the following company for Visa on Arrival (Aodai Tours in Saigon) and they're wonderful. Kevin is the guy on the visa desk and he's fast and efficient. He even had my Approval Letter in the email before my $ cleared. You can pay for this several different ways (cr card is fastest, bank withdrawal is cheapest but slow). It works very well and I will use it again for my March '09 trip.

Thanks to everyone for replying. We ended up going with Aodai Tours in Saigon, as also suggested by Daawgon. I really recommend them - we got a response within an hour, and Kevin had emailed through our letter within a couple of days, before the money would even have had time to be transferred into their account. Definitely a lot less stressful than sending our passports across the country and worrying about not getting them back before Christmas (we leave tomorrow night!).
