I'm looking at staying at this hotel, anyone have any experiences with it? It is located in the Geylang area, is this close to the airport etc?

Hi Lucas 7,

Do you mean Hotel 81? and the address lorong 20, Geylang?

I have not stayed at this hotel, but I did stay in the Fragrance Ruby hotel next to it. I think it will be of the same quality, I had HBO in mine!

Geylang is the red light district where there are legalized brothels dotted about. Also outside of the hotels there are chinese prostitutes, but they will not bother you, I was there for about 2 months, and wasn´t bothered once.

Geylang is fairly well located, your hotel is about (if address above) 5-10 minutes walk from Al Junied MRT station, it takes around 30 minutes to the airport, and about 12 minutes to Raffles on the East-to-West line (green).

I hope you enjoy your time in Singapore I worked there and miss it badly, don´t miss a Singapore sling in the raffles hotel! There is also the best curry house in the world down boat quay called, imaginativly, THE CURRYHOUSE (red lights) I ate there four time a week!

Have a good time,

One Love...

Hi lucas 7!

Hotel 81 has several branches in Singapore. Geylang is not the most fantastic plc to be cos of the semi-legalised brothels (its a long story as to why its semi-legalised...basically it is licensed but not legal...hah)... but they have FANTASTIC food in that area...

And yes, Aljunied MRT is nearby, and its very convenient that way. There is no longer colour coding system on the MRT tho, but its a very easy system to use.

In fact, if you have not booked the hotel, check out the other branches, like in Chinatown, think they have one there too. Location is more central and better environment. And they have a new Chinatown MRT there as well!

All in all Hotel 81 is OK, basic, but comfortable.

OK, hope it helps!
