I'm travelling to Palawan this March and looking for some diving suggestions. I've already been to Coron for the fantastic diving there, so I'm looking more around the Puerto Princessa or El Nido area. Hoping to find some cheap places to stay as well. Thanks!

I suggest other place for your great diving, Sabang Beach Resorts Puerto Galera Oriental Mindoro is 3rd class Tourist Sport in Philippines, Puerto Galera has a 45 Diving Spots around the Island.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

I appreciate your suggestion, but I've been diving in the Philippines for the past seven years, and PG has definitely been on the list many times and will be again. However, I'm looking at some new places, hence the post with the specific questions.

I've only gone diving in Coron as well, as far as Palawan is concerned. However, I hear that El Nido has really good diving, too. The popular chain - elnidoresorts - is quite expensive, but there should be cheaper options in El Nido town per se. That's where I plan to stay when I get to visit the area, too. Boat trips should bring you to the same places that elnidoresorts does, too, so that's cool.

For Puerto Princesa, they say the diving is in Honda Bay, but there's really nothing much over there. The reefs are not as good as those in Anilao or Puerto Galera. You said you've been diving here before, so if you know what's NOT Anilao or Galera, then you should know what to expect :)

How long do you plan to stay here? If you're looking at new places to see, I suggest you try Dumaguete for Dauin and Apo Island. Dauin offers awesome macro options while Apo Island is just stunning underwater. You have a protected reef with bustling life. The drift dive in Coconut Point is a blast, and Mamsa Point brings you a huge shoal of big jackfish and barracudas. I can recommend a dive operator with very reasonable rates, as well as a cheap, yet ideal, place to stay in.

From Dumaguete, you can take a ferry to Siquijor island. I hear there's a great wall dive there.

You could also check out Bohol. I've been there twice, both times before I started diving. I have to go back to check it out coz they say it's really good. Go over to Panglao Island, or go on a homestay type of accommodation at the Baclayon area.

Lemme know if you want more information!
