Hi everyone!

Okay, I have one month to go backpacking this summer; my gf has two months and we'd like to plan it so I join her for the second month (June). We've both already been to South America and I've been around SE Asia. She's been to parts of southern Africa. Budget might be around £20 per day (though that's possibly flexible) and we'd ideally like something with the fun and sun of SE Asia, but will listen to any suggestions. Basically we just want something amazing!

So, please take a deep breath and tell us the best packpacking destination in the world, and an explanation of why it is so.

Thanks so much for any suggestions, they'd be really appreciated.

Hi Asia is a fantastic place to travel around, and £20 per day will i think definately be ok. -snip-

Good luck and had a fab time.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

What about the Middle East? Apart from Turkey and Israel 20 GBP are plenty for most of the Middle East, plus flights from the UK to Turkey and Egypt are very cheap.

Have your gf travel overland from Turkey to Egypt via Syria and Jordan, you can then join her in Cairo or Amman.

Catch a cheap flight to Istanbul, Izmir or Antalya with a charter flight, hop on a bus to the Syrian border and then head into Syria and on to Jordan. The one joining the other should fly into Cairo and then use bus and ferry to get to Amman or wait in Cairo. Then tour Egypt together.

Or have your gf travel Turkey alone and you then join her for a jaunt through Syria, both of you flying in and out of Turkey and catching the bus in and out of Syria. Plenty of options.

I just got back from a trip to Nepal, Jordan, Israel and Egypt... It was a great time and aside from Israel it was cheap and you would have no problem with that budget. I was in Egypt in June and yes its hot but it was fun... Spend a few days in Dahab and snorkel and dive.. Anyway it was a great trip and I highly recommend it. Give things have changed a bit, I did feel safe in every country I was. Also don't let friends or family persuade you not to go based on what they think they know about the region or what is in the news.. Talk to people and make your own decission... If you would like any information please send me a message...
