Hi everyone,
I'm looking for destination suggestions for planning a honeymoon. The travel date is May of next year, 2005. The tricky part is I need to find a travel location that has a good balance of beach (i.e. lying around and doing nothing) and sightseeing/activities. It seems most beautiful, breathtaking beach locatons have little else to offer and would get boring eventually. A location with the world class beaches and also sighseeing, cultural/historical landmark opportunities would be ideal. Any thoughts?

Well I have been to Florida, Hawaii, and other places that have great beaches. You may want to try something unique like Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was voted as the top Island destination In North America by a travel Organization. Most people like cottages when going there because they offer so much more without the big cost. In fact I was in Brackley Beach and I noticed an outdoor wedding in a large white tent at one of the larger cottage establishments in Brackley Beach. Try a search with google and use the terms cottages pei and see what choices come up.

Won't you consider Thailand? There are plenty of beaches yet still full of facilities. Quiet beaches also available.

I'd still go with Mauritius!

Beautiful, beautiful, so beautiful...

I have 2 suggestions

1-Bora Bora, French polynesia

getting there is part of the fun, and the beaches are so beatiful. to get there you will have to stop in Tahiti wich has a ton of things to do and also has great beaches.

2-Hawaii, USA

honolulu has very nice beaches and it's also a busy city with nice things to do (e.g. pearl harbor, doll plantation ect). from there you can go to Maui wich is beautiful (I have never been to Maui but friends who have say it's better than Honolulu)

Bora Bora will be the most espensive of the 2 and the hardest to get to, but I found the trip to be worth it

I would actually recommend Pangkor Laut. It's an exclusive island resort off the west coast of Malaysia.

After chilling and relaxing in the resort you can always opt for travelling around Malaysia - food is excellent, great for shopping.. and the list goes on.

There's always Costa Rica, or Belize, although they might be getting nearer to the rainy season. But I know a guy who went from the beginning of May and stayed until mid-June and he had beautiful weather. The Pacific beaches of Costa Rica are supposed to be beautiful, and there's plenty of nature to see. If you want to catch some culture, just swing by the capital (San Jose) and that's supposed to be nice too. That's my dream anyway! Also, you can go to the Mediterrenean countries (Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, etc) and get a good balance of both culture and beach.
